How is this avoided?

First and foremost we must understand and know that no legitimate organization or company should be sending you a request to fill out your personal details because of some server errors or any other reasons. Take for example your bank wouldn’t do sending you an email informing you that they have lost your bank account and they need to track it back. You should also realize that no bank is requiring your Social Security Number, bank account number and PIN number just to log in to your account or retrieve your password. Not only banks but also paypal and ebay do not email and asking you these details also.

Some people make sure that they have updated firewall or activated anti virus software at all times. These will make it harder for anyone to install key loggers, Trojans, spyware or other similar devices intended to retrieve your information.

The best avoidance for this is staying alert and knows the nature or world of internet at all times. Remember internet is growing or expanding and whether it is good or evil purposes internet has no exception for that.
